Nurturing our mental health is such an important part of living a healthy lifestyle and practicing self-care. Without caring for the mental and emotional parts of us, we cannot create balance in our lives. When one part of us is out of sync, it will throw off the rest of us.
So, it is necessary for me to make sure that I am caring for ALL of me….my body, my mind, and my soul. I have to treat my mind as well as I treat my body in order to be completely healthy. They are all interconnected. I cannot completely care for my body without caring for my mind and vice versa. This will look different for everyone, because what nurtures your mind and soul vary from person to person. For me, it is getting outside, enjoying the sunlight by the pool, relaxing by the water, getting out in nature and going camping and kayaking, surrounding myself with the people I love and who love me, and of course moving my body!
If you aren’t already, prioritize your mental health! Make sure you are focusing on your mental, physical, and emotional health and well-being, and make your soul happy. Your entire self will be happy you did!
Here are some ways to help care for ALL of you!
- Get enough sleep. Aim for 7 to 9 hours every night.
- Drink enough water. Aim for half your body weight in ounces.
- Set aside time to rest and relax.
- Practice saying no.
- Set boundaries.
- Practice positive affirmations and gratitude.
- Create a healthy work-life balance.
- Get outside and enjoy the sunshine and nature.
- Surround yourself with your favorite people.
